Getting Started

Where are you going to find the talent you need to meet the challenges of the 21st century work world?

When the 78 million boomers begin to retire, a big “brain drain” of knowledge and experience will be gone from the workforce. Adding to this dilemma is the fact that there are only 51 million younger workers in the pipeline to replace them.

According to Marc Friedman, "Boomers are a great undiscovered continent of talent". Boomer facts to consider:

  • Boomers are living longer, better educated, more diverse and more computer literate
  • Boomers want to do work that has value and meaning
  • 76% of boomers intend to keep working but do not want to stay in traditional jobs
  • Boomers are seeking balance and flexibility in their new work life

The tabs at the top of this page will take you to several different areas, including:

  • Assessments: Needs assessment
  • Training: Employment in the 21st century, customer service
  • Testimonials: Boomers who have gone through the program and are working in their area of passion
  • Event Calendar: All of the current Boomer activities are listed here

"I recently attended the Care Giving Course that Gateway Community College offered and it was an exceptional course! The instructors were all very kind, knowledgeable and passionate about all of the information that was being taught. I learned new skills and techniques that I am now using with my consumers. I tell all of my friends and family about how wonderful this course is and how helpful it has been to me."
