Boomer Think Tank

Please join us for interactive discussions with fellow boomers finding their voice in developing workforce strategies. The focus will be on ideas to accommodate a paradigm shift away from traditional thinking on employment, retirement, skill sets, job search... Come meet other like thinking people who share experiences, what works, what doesn't, and other great thoughts. Please refer to our event calendar for scheduled dates, time, and location.

Boomers are being sought after... Instead of being retired from the ranks (shelved and discarded), their talents, skill sets and experiences are NOW in demand.

For boomers it's time to re-evaluate work and retirement priorities. Instead of climbing up through the traditional ranks of the work world, many boomers are redirecting their work and retirement energies into seeking more meaningful and flexible work experiences.

Isn't it Grand to be in Demand!

What's your mind-set?

Do you still see the workforce through the lens of the 1960-1980 paradigms?

  • Working 8 – 5pm; Mon-Fri; hire young-retire old
  • Employed 35 years same company and get the gold watch
  • Aging is a negative – older workers have diminishing value

Are you ready to change?

Re-direct your energy to today’s workforce realities:

  • Society runs 24/7
  • Global world market place
  • Technology is the driver

Re-tool for a new work world with:

  • Developing job proposals
  • Creating competency commercials
  • Writing up to date resume’s
  • Identifying transferable skills and experiences

Re-connect with your passion (or discover it):

  • Assess your interest, personality and joy
  • Discover your talents and abilities

The tabs at the top of this page will take you to several different areas, including:

  • Assessments: interest tests, values and personality tests
  • Training: classes in social services, caregiving and education
  • Testimonials: Boomers who have gone through the program and are working in their area of passion

"I recently attended the Care Giving Course that Gateway Community College offered and it was an exceptional course! The instructors were all very kind, knowledgeable and passionate about all of the information that was being taught. I learned new skills and techniques that I am now using with my consumers. I tell all of my friends and family about how wonderful this course is and how helpful it has been to me."
